On your activation day Your Sky Broadband & Talk will go live on your activation date – it can be anytime up to midnight.
We’ll send you a text to let you know when you’re up and running (if we have your number).

Why is there no dial tone on my landline
If you have no dial tone on your corded phone, make sure it is plugged securely into the wall phone jack.
If you have no dial tone on your cordless phone, check the battery and charge it if it’s low.
Make sure your cordless phone’s base unit is plugged into a working electrical outlet.
How long does BT take to reconnect
You might have been disconnected because you haven’t paid your bill by the due date.
We’ll have sent you a bill reminder before disconnecting your line. If you pay everything you owe BT we’ll happily reconnect your line within four hours of processing your payment.
How do I reset Bt hub after power cut?
- Find the recessed “Reset” button on the back of your Hub
- Using a paper clip or similar press the button and hold for 20 seconds

Are BT phasing out landlines
The switch to digital landlines may affect telecare devices and personal alarms. This process will be gradual and won’t be complete until the end of 2025.
Your telephone service provider should contact you before the switch takes place.

Locate the phone line that connects to the outside of your home, then follow it to the square box on the side of your home that houses the phone wiring.

Do I need a new phone line for fibre optic broadband
Fibre broadband doesn’t technically need a phone line as it requires a specialist type of cable made from glass or plastic.
However if you have FTTC, then it’s likely the connection from your local cabinet to your home will be on a copper line – so it will require a phoneline.
How long does it take internet to activate
It may be as short as 15 minutes or it may take several days, but that depends on the type of internet service you’ve just signed up to.
Why does it take 2 weeks to activate broadband
Two weeks is about right for a new residential provision. Business lines are usually quicker.
Charging will not start until your service is activated. Advance charges for provision of service, and initial line rental is normal.
Can I cancel my landline and still have Internet
Re: Can I stop my landline but keep broadband? If you stop your landline then your broadband will also be ceased and would be treated as a contract termination, and could involve cancellation charges.
The cost of the landline connection is included in the broadband cost, so there would not be any saving.

Unplug the modular connector from its jack. Get a working phone and plug it into the jack.
Lift the telephone handset and listen for a dial tone. The absence of a dial tone indicates that there is no power or signal coming from the phone company.

Re: Connected before activation date I’d recommend unplugging your router or switching it off until we’ve confirmed your broadband’s ready to use, because plugging it in too early can occasionally cause problems with the router automatically finding the right details to connect to the internet.

Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) Also known as ‘full fibre’ broadband, this connection type uses fibre optic cables all the way from the telephone exchange to your home and so doesn’t need to use copper telephone lines at any point.

Wait for the power light to come on and stop flashing. When the Tel and Pon lights have stopped flashing and are solid green, then your reset has been successful.
